The Sunflower Mamas
A Support Group
For Grieving Mothers
A Space to Breathe & Just Be
When struck with a loss as great as the transition of a child, we are left with a grief so deep that the healing becomes a practice, because we have to learn how to carry on living with the reality that our child is no longer on the earthy plane.
The Sunflower Mamas was created by myself and a fellow mom, Erika Blair.
We wanted to create opportunities from moms like us to connect, share, and continue to bloom, even on our darkest days.

Meet Divayogi, Michelle Stafford
Michelle Stafford is a trauma informed wellness practitioner, community leader, and space holder based in Baltimore. As the founder of Divayogi, she offers private yoga instruction and community wellness experiences rooted in mindful movement, holistic wellness, and deep compassion.
Michelle is the co-founder of Sunflower Mamas, a community created in honor of her 23 year old son, Joshua, who transitioned in September 2025, and her 11 year old niece, Jordan, who transitioned just 12 days later. Experiencing these profound losses so close together deepened Michelle’s understanding of the unique journey of those grieving the loss of a child and inspired her to create a space where mothers do not have to navigate that journey alone.
Sunflower Mamas provides a gentle sanctuary and sisterhood for mothers experiencing child loss, with experiences centered around healing, nature, wellness, connection, and joy. Michelle believes that grief and joy can coexist, and that mothers deserve spaces where they can be seen, supported, rest, laugh, breathe, and continue to grow while carrying the love of their children with them.
Her work also spans community advocacy and nourishment as a co-founder of the Children’s Veg Fest and Board Secretary for the Black Veg Society. Through every space she holds, Michelle is committed to fostering healing, connection, compassion, and radical rest.
